EARTH 2 Jae lee....
I LOVE EARTH 2, although there's way, WAY, too much Superman/Batman going on right now in a book that is supposed to be without the trinity. Nicola Scott is an amazing artist. I want that known now. And her work on EARTH 2 is fantastic. But check out these images of the world of EARTH 2 by Jae Lee;

.......
Technically, SpaceGodzilla is Godzilla's biological child. Considering how that movie plays out, that's pretty hardcore.
funny thing just happened....
They just announced Wonder Woman for the Superman/Batman movie. Some people say this movie is going to be too crowded, and they might as well just call it the Justice League. But I think I have an idea of where they're going with all of this, and I can't wait. The actor they've cast as Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, I can't really speak for. Primarily because I've never seen anything she's done. But here's the thing; the casting in MAN OF STEEL was spot on, absolutely fantastic. And Affleck is a very interesting choice for Batman. So I'm not only optimistic about Gadot, but I can say honestly that I'm enthusiastic as well. I love Wonder Woman, I love all the DC Comic characters, but I love Wonder Woman and I can't wait to see this movie. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to see it at midnight this time around.

thinking out loud; Superman/Batman movie
There are three other superheroes said to be in the upcoming Superman/Batman movie; Wonder Woman, Nightwing, and possibly The Flash. My thoughts;
Wonder Woman; What if WW is serving a similar role as Black Widow did in Iron Man 2? Zack Snyder is said to be a big fan of Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns', so much so that it's rumored that he spoke to Miller about the upcoming S/B movie. So maybe Superman is working alongside the U.S. Government in good faith, and a liaison is assigned to him. Maybe her name is Diana. And she seems to demonstrate powers, or unique skills of her own. Along the way she meets Bruce Wayne as he comes into the story and the two begin a flirtation through the film. Only for Diana to reveal her own costumed identity for the films climax.
Nightwing; Maybe Alfred isn't in this movie. The supporting role to Bruce Wayne/Batman would have to be filled somehow. And the grown Robin is a prime choice. The Batman in the movie is an older more seasoned masked hero. So Bringing in more of the Bat-continuity makes sense. Plus it will be a nice break from the traditional Batman model we've become so familiar with and has been central to Christopher Nolan's recent trilogy.
The Flash- In Miller's 'The Dark Knight Strikes Again' Lex Luthor is using the Flash as a power source and he has to be broken out by Batman and his team. Could the same thing happen here? It's more than likely that Lex will be the big bad of the movie. So maybe the Flash is in a similar state. Or maybe, just maybe, at the end of the movie after Superman and Batman have come together, and Wonder Woman, possibly being involved as well, maybe the group pops up in Central City while the Flash is in the middle of some superhero-ing. And ask him to join their new alliance. Cue Justice League theme.

With 'Thor: The Dark World' coming out I thought I'd run through the best to worst of the first phase of MARVEL movies. Know that I'm approaching this on an individual movie basis and not as a collective ongoing franchise. Full Disclosure; I am a DC Comics guy, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy MARVEL characters too.
MARVEL phase 1, best to worst;
BEST
- 'Captain America: The First Avenger'
- 'Iron Man'
-'The Avengers'
-'The Incredible Hulk'
-'Iron Man 2'
-'Thor'
WORST

Thinking out loud; the ARROW league
ARROW is back with it's second season, and it started off running. Go check it out if you haven't already. Spoiler ALERT from this point forward; At the end of the episode we got out first look at the shows first Black Canary, yes I know who she is under the mask, no I won't be saying it here. And it was badass. She'll be resurfacing again next week in episode 3 and from what I understand will become a regular presence on the show ongoing, at least for this season. Also in the premiere we got our first nod to The Flash, who will be coming a couple episodes down the line, will assume his costumed persona by seasons end, and may/may not get his own spinoff TV series next year. So now I think out loud;
The actor playing Roy Harper on the show let slip that certain DC characters appearing on the show may be working as a team, when that might happen and in what context I'll leave in the air. Technically Green Arrow and Huntress worked as a team briefly in season 1. And Arrow has his team he works with on a regular basis. So I can only assume he meant the new characters coming in this season. Which would include Black Canary, The Flash, and possibly others yet to be revealed.
The question of whether Arrow, the possible Flash series and the other DC Comic TV series' currently being developed will become part of a shared universe is an active discussion online. As is whether or not any of these shows will be part of, at some point, the, hopefully, cinematic DC Universe currently being built, in theory. The sequel to MAN OF STEEL will feature Batman, and possibly other cameos. And Warner Brothers is still wanting a Justice League movie one way or another. Meanwhile movies featuring other characters are in active development. Including the Justice League Dark coming from Guillermo Del Toro which will deal with certain mystical, monstrous, and occult-styled DC characters. Del Toro has already said he'd be open to his movie being part of the same universe as MAN OF STEEL. So where does that bring everything?
A whole lot of possibilities, and not a lot of decisions being made. At least not publicly being made.
So ARROW season 2 will see superheroics cranking up a couple notches. Will we see an ARROW version of the Justice League? Will they go by some other name? The Outsiders maybe? The Titans? Seven Soldiers? a new name entirely? will everybody just join the Suicide Squad, which will be forming during season 2 as well? And who will make the cut on the team? Will this first Black Canary stick around or even survive this season? The Flash is said to likely be getting his own series next year. Would he come back to help out? Is Roy Harper going to be part of it now that he's officially helping Green Arrow as of episode 2? Hmm, a lot of questions.
I guess we'll find out.

The Kraken.....lives?
The remake of Clash Of The Titans is not very good at all, in fact it's quite terrible. It's sequel, Wrath Of The TItans is ever-so-slightly better but still on the negative side of the scale. While in production of Wrath Warner Brothers began developing a third movie. But it's quite likely that film will never be made. So what?
Well I was watching Wrath on TV the other day and my mind started going as it often does, and never seems to stop. And I thought, 'yunno, screw a third Titans movie, just make a movie about the Kraken'. The Kraken, from the original film and the remake, is an immense monster meant to destroy, well.....everything. But in the mythology of the films it was a weapon the gods used to defeat the titans in the first place. And since the release of the Clash remake has gone on to become an internet meme and quote go-to. "Release the Kraken" and countless variations are, everywhere.
Right now Warner Brothers is making a new Godzilla movie, and if successful, which it hopefully will be, I'm sure they plan on making as many as TOHO, the folks who own Godzilla and make the films in Japan, will allow them to. But at some point TOHO will want their star back. And where does that leave Warner Brothers? The truth is to get their kaiju, giant monster, fix they can go ahead with a new Pacific Rim movie at any time, as the film is a blast and easily lends itself to franchising. And speaking realistically, unless WB gets their DC Comic movies going in a serious way they'll be looking for their next Harry Potter-type cash cow. So I started thinking, if not Godzilla or Pacific Rim, why not the Kraken?
The monster has been established, more or less, the meme's continues to fly, and it's scale and power lend itself easily to massive spectacle set-pieces. So why not go nuts and create a new movie, and even a series of movies, around the Kraken. Centering it at the heart of a mythic themed kaiju series. Find a way to resurrect the Kraken, whom you remember was destroyed at the end of Clash, in the modern world. Build up a new mythology in the context of the modern age. It's been done before several times, but my current favorite is DC Comics current run of Wonder Woman comics, go check them out to see what I mean, The short of it is they're fantastic. To set this series apart from most other kaiju films, or monster movies in general, have the Kraken face other monsters of myth, and invent some new ones. Just embrace the insanity of what you're doing and run wild.
I know none of this will likely happen. But it's nice to think out loud. I'd certainly give it a chance, how about you?

Godzilla....
Yes, I have seen the GODZILLA test footage....repeatedly in fact. And yes, I loved it each and every time. Even though its simply test footage it really nails the tone started in Gojira, seen a little bit again in Godzilla Raids Again, and revisited a bit in Godzilla 1985 (Godzilla Returns). I can't wait for the movie, and I don't know how else to say it without reducing to a giddy mess. GODZILLA!!!!!!

Godzillasaurids
With the beginning of the age of monsters comes the rise of new lifeforms. Godzilla being the greatest among them. There are several creatures closely associated with Godzilla himself. And in my mind these creatures are all part of the same group of beings I'll call Godzillasaurids. Species of kaiju are rare, in most cases creatures are singular in nature. So connections are often appreciated if not always emphasized. Check them out below, warning I may update in the future depending on continued research....
GODZILLA
GODZILLA JR.
(Heisei era adopted offspring, appearance is slightly different from Godzilla himself)
MINYA
(Adoptive offspring, significantly
different in appearance)
GODZOOKY
("Nephew" of Godzilla,
possess membrane "wings")
ZILLA
(1998 SONY film and animated series)

MAD MAX FURY ROAD; thought....
There's a new MAD MAX coming, if you haven't seen the original trilogy seek them out please. This one will count as the fourth. And word is there will be two more to follow. Mel Gibson played the character in the trilogy, while Tom Hardy will be taking over for the new films. I'm quite looking forward to them.
I had a random thought lately, on how I'd like to see the torch passed from one to the other. Excuse me while I indulge in some fanboy thinking;
At the start of the movie, Tom Hardy's character comes upon a wreck and finds Mel Gibson's MAX inside, he pulls him out and toss' him to the ground. As he begins searching for anything that can be salvaged Gibson's character wakes up. Hardy looks down at him as Gibson struggles to say something, he leans closer, and hears "...Max....". Gibson dies of course. And a little ways into the movie, someone asks Hardy his name, he hesitates, then replies simply "Max".
Just a thought.

An all-Female DC Comic team....
This is something I've been thinking about for a little while and I still can't quite decide on a roster. I know the Birds Of Prey already exist, but I was just thinking, what if I formed a team of my own. I know I want Batwoman in there, I know I want Wonder Woman but she's already involved with the Justice League. But beyond that it's all up in the air. DC has a number of really fantastic female heroes, but I just can't quite decide. Zatanna is going back to the League after being involved with the Justice League Dark team, Katana and Catwoman are on the Justice League Of America, Black Canary and Batgirl are part of the Birds Of Prey, Starfire is with the Outlaws, and the list goes on and on. My approach right now is to go with characters not associated with any particular group at the moment. Yes, Batwoman has appeared with Batman, Inc. but that association is quite small and almost nonexistent.
Think I'll revisit this post as time goes on, for now;

Superman, Man Of Steel
I saw MAN OF STEEL, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
I think 'Superman: The Movie' is fantastic, and always will be. but its also a Superman movie of its time. It took the character as depicted in the movie serials and TV shows before it, and put him in the 1970's. It's a very safe and PC movie. 'Superman II' is very one note, and poorly thought out all around. And that series of movies imploded almost immediately afterward with 'Superman III' and 'Superman IV:The Quest For Peace'. 'Superman Returns' was the rock bottom. A movie so driven by nostalgia and afraid of change that it twisted itself, and mutated, into what may be one of the worst Superhero films ever made.
Really the strongest interpretation of Superman outside the comics in the past 20 years was seen in 'Superman: The Animated Series', 'Justice League' and 'Justice League Unlimited' on television. The guys behind those shows as well as the other DC Comic animated shows and movies got it, and got it wonderfully. Superman looks for the positive, he can get pissed, he can punch the hell out of the bad guys, he's not invincible, he's not perfect, he tries to do the right thing but sometimes he doesn't. The comics have been doing that for decades already, and the folks from Warner Brothers animation went for it with those series'.
MAN OF STEEL feels like a combination of both the comic book Superman and the STAS/JL/JLU Superman. The energy, the positivity, the heroism, the humanity, its all there. People have issues with the destruction, with the drama, with the fact that the film takes the material seriously, but most of all they have a problem with the ending of one of the characters. I understand where they're coming from, I really do. But where was the outrage with the endings of certain characters in Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy, or the endings of certain characters in any of the MARVEL movies. And if you want to talk about destruction how about the huge amounts of destruction in all of MARVEL's movies. MAN OF STEEL is what it is, and I enjoyed it. Its a perfectly legitimate interpretation of Superman, and one that doesn't make me want to rip my own head off in frustration.
Go see it.

The Happy Hobbit Saga Continues.....
.....because the stars of the Happy Hobbit video found out about the reaction video to their reaction video. And made a reaction video to the reaction video to the reaction video!!! This is probably my favorite part of this whole thing. That kind of pure fan enthusiasm is what it's all about. Can't wait to see what happens next. :-)
The Happy Hobbit Saga....
I love trailer reaction videos....when they're great. Watching someone experience footage from a movie they just can't wait to see for the first time is just fantastic. And the better the reaction video, the more fun for everyone.
The first trailer for 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' came online. And of course its generating many, many, reaction videos. But one video seems to have started something fascinating. Let's see how it's unfolded....so far;
Trailer for 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'-
Its a solid trailer that shows you enough to make you look forward to the film, especially if you enjoyed the first installment. I like it. Well that one fan reaction comes from someone named, the Happy Hobbit, check it out-
A great reaction video. Admittedly I've seen even crazier ones, but still this one is great. And apparently Peter Jackson thought so too, because he did something pretty special, he gathered together Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, and Lee Pace in full Elf makeup and gear to watch the fan reaction video. So you have a reaction video to a reaction video-
Really adorable and wonderful overall i'm thinking. But it doesn't stop there....

Trailers....
Some new trailers for you;
MAN OF STEEL-
Can this come out now please.
PACIFIC RIM-
AAAAAHHHH!!!!!! YES!!!!!!
WALKING WITH DINOSAURS: THE 3D MOVIE-
I really enjoyed the original mini-series, and anything with Dinosaurs has my attention. This looks like its aimed more toward families but I'd still like to see it.
THE WOLRD'S END-
The trilogy ends. SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, and now THE WORLD's END. What can be said. I will be seeing this, and I will love the hell out of it.
THE LONE RANGER-
The fact that its Disney, and an action film, has me worried. Disney doesn't really know what to do with them. The talent involved has me interested. This movie has had very public problems. But at the end of the day those may not have been as big a deal as they appeared to so many. I'd like to see this one because I'm a fan of super and pulp heroes, and because i'm genuinely curious about how it turned out. If its at least good, or even ok, it should be an interesting double feature to play with THE GREEN HORNET. Fans know why.
THE WOLVERINE-
I'm hopeful, but not that stupid. Fingers crossed this turns out well.
RIDDICK-
Finally a new Riddick movie is coming and it looks damn solid.Love the character, enjoy the worlds, can't wait.
BYZANTIUM-
Looks quite interesting, and a Vampire movie with blood is always welcome.
ELYSIUM-
A new SciFi movie from the director of DISTRICT 9, I AM THERE!
MAN OF STEEL-
PACIFIC RIM-
WALKING WITH DINOSAURS: THE 3D MOVIE-
THE WOLRD'S END-
THE LONE RANGER-
THE WOLVERINE-

Recruiting a superhero team, isn't the easiest thing to do. You want everyone to have a role, to be unique, and to bring something special to the team. And at the same time you don't want to violate the rules, or creative approach, of the world they exist in.

GALAXY QUEST, Rated-R
GALAXY QUEST is a fantastic movie, and anyone with any sense loves it. For a long time there has been a rumor, that there was at one point an R-Rated cut of the movie. Then it was confirmed that locked in a vault somewhere this cut existed. I'd love to see it someday.
......
All of this politics, religion, money, its all so very.....I don't know, frustrating certainly, but directly to the point, obsolete. Pointless. Primitive. Tired. Holding humanity back ultimately. When are you folks going to grow up?
.....
walked into work this past week, someone looked me in the eye and said, "welcome to hell." I found myself; delighted, concerned, bored, and apathetic.

Black Lightning; Thunder & Lightning
Cartoon Network is terrific, on the other hand they're also frustrating, annoying, and make numerous bad decisions. Much like a number of other networks. As is so often the case, they make their decisions purely around money. And like so many networks will actively sabotage any series they no longer wish to broadcast. 'Young Justice' and 'Green Lantern', two solid shows with strong followings, canceled because they didn't make enough money. And two new shows 'Beware The Batman' and 'Teen Titans Go!' have been produced and will be taking their place. 'Beware The Batman', a slightly different, not really, interpretation of Batman is likely to be viewed as a guaranteed money-maker as most things associated with Batman are. 'Teen Titans Go!' will be replacing 'Young Justice', it will be a more slapstick, comedic, revival of the incredibly popular 'Teen Titans' animated series from a number of years ago.
'Teen Titans', a series with a massive and adoring following. A following that has asked for a return of the series for years. The main problem with 'Teen Titans Go!' is that; a) its a more comedic version of the series aimed at lowbrow humor. And b) the folks behind the original series aren't involved in 'Teen Titans Go!' in any way. And by all accounts the original makers aren't necessarily thrilled about the new show. Again, this decision is being made about money. The network views the new series as a sure thing, so they're doing it.
'Teen Titans Go!' was born out of a series of animated shorts produced for Cartoon Networks DC NATION programming block. The series of shorts was one of several short series put out for the block. Some being more serious, some being more kid oriented. One of the more interesting however, was a series of shorts based on the character of Black Lightning and his two daughters, Thunder and Lightning. Two of the shorts are below;
As you can see, these shorts have everything a network concerned with marketing could want. An appeal for kids with the two superpowered daughters hoping to become superheroes. An appeal for action series fans with Black Lightning facing any number of baddies, with and without his girls at his side. An appeal for girls and boys. An appeal for superhero fans. An appeal for parents and their kids. In fact the only thing the shorts don't have, depending on who you ask, is a central character recognizable to the general audience. And that's the one and only thing that could be used against producing a full animated series. But even that is a poor argument, as a very successful series was produced based on the character Static, called 'Static Shock' for a network at the time called The WB. The reality is, there is never a market for something, until you create it. And you ultimately create it, by taking a chance and committing. 'Thunder & Lightning' could've been really fun and, if you read about the futures of these characters, very interesting.
What it comes down to is this, if you're going to cancel great shows, at least make the effort to follow them with shows that could be equally as strong. Instead of making a half-ass version of a popular series because you think it has a built-in fanbase ready to buy it up, why not try to create something new and creative. I wish Cartoon Network had produced 'Black Lightning; Thunder & Lightning' instead of 'Teen Titans Go!', its now just another poor decision.

And b) the folks behind the original series aren't involved in 'Teen Titans Go!' in any way. And by all accounts the original makers aren't necessarily thrilled about the new show. Again, this decision is being made about money. The network views the new series as a sure thing, so they're doing it.
'Teen Titans Go!' was born out of a series of animated shorts produced for Cartoon Networks DC NATION programming block. The series of shorts was one of several short series put out for the block. Some being more serious, some being more kid oriented. One of the more interesting however, was a series of shorts based on the character of Black Lightning and his two daughters, Thunder and Lightning. Two of the shorts are below;

Riddick TEASER TRAILER 1 (2013) - Vin Diesel, Karl Urban Movie HD
It's finally here, the first teaser for 'RIDDICK' is online. I really love 'PITCH BLACK'. 'DARK FURY' was a solid piece. And the Directors Cut of 'CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK' is great. This new entry looks like a hybrid of what we've already seen, but also a step forward. Can't wait to finally see it.

Justice Society, the series...
There are no plans currently for a Justice Society TV series, I should say that now. I would love to see one, but there is nothing going on.
For those who don't know anything about the Justice Society, here you go; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_Society
I've been getting really into the new 'Earth 2' comic from DC. I've always loved alternate universes and seeing the Society going back to their multiverse roots is fantastic. And it would be wonderful to see that verse brought to life in some form or fashion outside the books.
Superhero TV is a bit hit or miss, depending on your taste of course. Everyone has their favorites, and the ones they despise. For me if you take the material seriously enough and approach it in the right way there's no reason a great costumed hero series couldn't work. Currently, 'ARROW" is doing incredibly well for the CW, it's also the big reason for this post. And I'm enjoying it quite a bit. But I'm hoping it develops a bit more into something closer to the Green Arrow books.
One of the issues you have to acknowledge is that WB wants to make an ongoing Justice League film franchise and a cinematic DC Comic Universe. the fact is both the Justice League and the Justice Society have members called Green Lantern and Flash. Even though their origins are completely different and totally unrelated. The WB film branch probably wouldn't allow them to be used. So you would likely have to revise the team roster a bit. And that extends to the rest of the DC Comic Universe. You'd have to pick and choose who would or wouldn't appear in a feature film as intended by the studio. Obviously characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman would be off limits period. Working out logistics might be a bit frustrating but it could work. By setting the JS series in its own self-contained universe you could essentially work a back door into everything going on, in essence pleasing everyone however slightly.
As I've been thinking about the possibilities I've been considering a roster for the team, specifically in case Alan Scott and Jay Garrick can't be used on the team. And following along with the CW's 'ARROW' as existing in a world without special powers.
My initial concept roster of the core team;
*Doctor Fate (Khalid Ben-Hassin) -Leader
*Guardian (Mal Duncan) - Strategist
*Green Arrow (from the CW's ARROW continuing that universe, could work) -Man on the ground/Investor
*Hawkwoman (Kendra Saunders) -Detective
*Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) -Inventor/Investor
*Fury (the last Amazon) -Powerhouse
Other heroes who would appear off and on;
*Sandman (Wesley Dodds)
*Red Tornado (Robot)
*Manhunter (Kate Spencer)
*Black Canary (CW's ARROW)
*Wild Cat (Ted Grant)
*Tigress (Artemis Crock)
*Manitou Dawn
*and others of course...
Fanboy thinking.
**UPDATE**
The Flash, Barry Allen, will be appearing on ARROW in the upcoming second season with an eye toward spinning off into his own tv series. If that happens it will be the second live action series to star the character since the first in the early 1990's.
And there goes my whole idea LMAO.
Still a Justice Society series would be awesome. Especially if they went with the Earth-2 concept. Maybe an animated show could work out if they don't want to go that far with live-action.

GODZILLA 2014
The new American GODZILLA movie begins filming NEXT MONTH. How incredible is that. The number of updates about the production seems to be increasing by the week as we make our way to March. You can find the latest news by simply conducting a quick search online. But it seems to be coming together quite well, with the occasional bumps, and fingers crossed it becomes something great.
life and thinking
Dad called me "the milkman", it was a joke one morning. We were both getting ready to go to work. But it sort of stuck with me a little and, I'll admit, it occupied my thoughts for a long while. It still does a bit. I don't want to be "the milkman", I really truly don't. I have nothing against anyone who does. But I refuse that title. I reject it.
Of course, once my mind starts, it can't stop. And I've become occupied with various aspects of my life. Thinking about every little thing that I don't want, and that I do. The short of it is simply that I really need to make changes, and the sooner the better.
