ARROW is back with it's second season, and it started off running. Go check it out if you haven't already. Spoiler ALERT from this point forward; At the end of the episode we got out first look at the shows first Black Canary, yes I know who she is under the mask, no I won't be saying it here. And it was badass. She'll be resurfacing again next week in episode 3 and from what I understand will become a regular presence on the show ongoing, at least for this season. Also in the premiere we got our first nod to The Flash, who will be coming a couple episodes down the line, will assume his costumed persona by seasons end, and may/may not get his own spinoff TV series next year. So now I think out loud;
The actor playing Roy Harper on the show let slip that certain DC characters appearing on the show may be working as a team, when that might happen and in what context I'll leave in the air. Technically Green Arrow and Huntress worked as a team briefly in season 1. And Arrow has his team he works with on a regular basis. So I can only assume he meant the new characters coming in this season. Which would include Black Canary, The Flash, and possibly others yet to be revealed.
The question of whether Arrow, the possible Flash series and the other DC Comic TV series' currently being developed will become part of a shared universe is an active discussion online. As is whether or not any of these shows will be part of, at some point, the, hopefully, cinematic DC Universe currently being built, in theory. The sequel to MAN OF STEEL will feature Batman, and possibly other cameos. And Warner Brothers is still wanting a Justice League movie one way or another. Meanwhile movies featuring other characters are in active development. Including the Justice League Dark coming from Guillermo Del Toro which will deal with certain mystical, monstrous, and occult-styled DC characters. Del Toro has already said he'd be open to his movie being part of the same universe as MAN OF STEEL. So where does that bring everything?
A whole lot of possibilities, and not a lot of decisions being made. At least not publicly being made.
So ARROW season 2 will see superheroics cranking up a couple notches. Will we see an ARROW version of the Justice League? Will they go by some other name? The Outsiders maybe? The Titans? Seven Soldiers? a new name entirely? will everybody just join the Suicide Squad, which will be forming during season 2 as well? And who will make the cut on the team? Will this first Black Canary stick around or even survive this season? The Flash is said to likely be getting his own series next year. Would he come back to help out? Is Roy Harper going to be part of it now that he's officially helping Green Arrow as of episode 2? Hmm, a lot of questions.
I guess we'll find out.
