There are no plans currently for a Justice Society TV series, I should say that now. I would love to see one, but there is nothing going on.
For those who don't know anything about the Justice Society, here you go; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_Society
I've been getting really into the new 'Earth 2' comic from DC. I've always loved alternate universes and seeing the Society going back to their multiverse roots is fantastic. And it would be wonderful to see that verse brought to life in some form or fashion outside the books.
Superhero TV is a bit hit or miss, depending on your taste of course. Everyone has their favorites, and the ones they despise. For me if you take the material seriously enough and approach it in the right way there's no reason a great costumed hero series couldn't work. Currently, 'ARROW" is doing incredibly well for the CW, it's also the big reason for this post. And I'm enjoying it quite a bit. But I'm hoping it develops a bit more into something closer to the Green Arrow books.
One of the issues you have to acknowledge is that WB wants to make an ongoing Justice League film franchise and a cinematic DC Comic Universe. the fact is both the Justice League and the Justice Society have members called Green Lantern and Flash. Even though their origins are completely different and totally unrelated. The WB film branch probably wouldn't allow them to be used. So you would likely have to revise the team roster a bit. And that extends to the rest of the DC Comic Universe. You'd have to pick and choose who would or wouldn't appear in a feature film as intended by the studio. Obviously characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman would be off limits period. Working out logistics might be a bit frustrating but it could work. By setting the JS series in its own self-contained universe you could essentially work a back door into everything going on, in essence pleasing everyone however slightly.
As I've been thinking about the possibilities I've been considering a roster for the team, specifically in case Alan Scott and Jay Garrick can't be used on the team. And following along with the CW's 'ARROW' as existing in a world without special powers.
My initial concept roster of the core team;
*Doctor Fate (Khalid Ben-Hassin) -Leader
*Guardian (Mal Duncan) - Strategist
*Green Arrow (from the CW's ARROW continuing that universe, could work) -Man on the ground/Investor
*Hawkwoman (Kendra Saunders) -Detective
*Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) -Inventor/Investor
*Fury (the last Amazon) -Powerhouse
Other heroes who would appear off and on;
*Sandman (Wesley Dodds)
*Red Tornado (Robot)
*Manhunter (Kate Spencer)
*Black Canary (CW's ARROW)
*Wild Cat (Ted Grant)
*Tigress (Artemis Crock)
*Manitou Dawn
*and others of course...
Fanboy thinking.
**UPDATE**
The Flash, Barry Allen, will be appearing on ARROW in the upcoming second season with an eye toward spinning off into his own tv series. If that happens it will be the second live action series to star the character since the first in the early 1990's.
And there goes my whole idea LMAO.
Still a Justice Society series would be awesome. Especially if they went with the Earth-2 concept. Maybe an animated show could work out if they don't want to go that far with live-action.
