SW7 teaser is out

Teaser for SW7 is out now, and in the spirit of positivity i'll simply say; the less I say the better.

......

Stepped away from fan communities lately. Stopped going to forums, stopped listening to podcasts, unfollowed groups. Used to be interesting to talk, and listen, to people who liked the thing you liked. Now its just bothering me, there's way too much negativity, folks just flat out attacking for the sake of attacking. A more conservative mind-set taking over. Add to that frustration with the thing you like in the first place. Not going to get back into fan stuff for a long time. Just going to enjoy things on my own.

Been thinking about starting a youtube series or podcast, still thinking about it. but we'll see.

Happy 18th Anniversary to 'STAR TREK: First Contact'

Its the 18th anniversary of 'STAR TREK: First Contact'. I know the Next Generation era Star Trek movies get a lot of crap but I love them, and this one to me is the best of the four. There's so much to enjoy about this movie if you're a fan, and even if you're not it's still just a good movie. So if you haven't seen it, please go check it out.

PREDATOR 2 thought......

PREDATOR 2 is on tv, and I suddenly just thought; by the end of the movie the government likely has in their possession a Predator; spear, mask, damaged shoulder cannon, and severed arm complete with part of a computer/self-destruct gauntlet. And NOBODY has ever touched on this? Not in any of the comics? Not in any of the games? Not in any other movies? REALLY?

CW ARROW Black Canary 2.0

After the events of the season 3 premiere, it looks like ARROW is moving forward with bringing Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance in the mask of BLACK CANARY. While the character is still training she will soon suit up and the CW has released the first images of her in costume. check it out;

My feeling; I really like this look. She looks more like an urban vigilante than a superhero, all business. The mask without the filler is always a welcome change from usual superhero style, though i'm sure someone will complain. The black lipstick is also a nice touch. The fact that again she doesn't have fishnets or hotpants doesn't bother me in the least. Replacing the bo staff sported by Sara Lance with a billy club is a subtle change and let's us know this is another character. While i'm going to miss Sara as Black Canary like crazy, I've been waiting for this since the pilot and I can't wait.

Just for comparisons sake he are the two side by side;

CAPTAIN COLD on THE FLASH

On the day of the series premiere we have gotten our first look at Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold on CW's THE FLASH, and he looks pretty great.

I have to say he looks damn fantastic, though I have some small issues here and there. The coat is terribly plain, and the goggles don't have the cool factor of the classic glasses from the comics. But as this is just the beginning I'll wait and see how it evolves. Word is we'll see Cold's origin, along with the origin of the rest of the Rogues, and the evolution of the character as time goes on. So there is always opportunity for development. I suspect that, while we're getting the badass Cold Gun, we'll likely see Cold and the Rogues become super powered like they are in the New52. Eventually.

Just for reference here's both the classic look from the books and the New52 redesign;

Classic and New52

Can't wait to finally see the show. :-)

Where Are The Space Movies?

I demand more positive and inspiring space movies. INTERSTELLAR looks like a good start, but lets keep it going. Let's inspire each other and move our collective ass' out there. We can do it. Movies about the awe of it all, about exploration, about discovery, lets see them. Movies that will pick people up and move them to the stars.

DJANGO/ZORRO

Coming this November, I can't wait!!!! Reportedly when Tarantino mentioned the comic to Jamie Foxx, Foxx got quite excited and suggested they make it as a movie with Antonio Banderas. Just the thought of that delights me.

Art by Jae Lee.

the Batmobile

On-set pictures of the Batmobile from ‘BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: Dawn of Justice’ have appeared online, sorry won’t be posting them here, and I have to say it looks fantastic. The Batmobile has always been a more fun element of the Batman universe if only because it can look and do anything. And it always seems that the look of the Batmobile set’s the tone for the particular Batman you’re seeing. Big and mean, slick and cool, if it all fits then Batman’s world comes together in a fuller sense……….Then again, it can always just be a cool car.

**EDIT**

Possibly in response to the set-pics of the Batmobile out there, director Zack Snyder has released a new official look at the Batmobile. HOLY $%^&;

Mad Max: Fury Road - Comic-Con First Look [HD]

The word EPIC does not properly sum up this, or my feelings about it.

Our First Look At Gal Gadot As WONDER WOMAN

Gal Gadot as WONDER WOMAN.

WONDER WOMAN.

'BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: Dawn Of Justice', WONDER WOMAN.

My younger sister and I were speechless upon seeing this. WONDER WOMAN. I can't wait to finally see Wonder Woman on the big screen. YES!!!

Wanna talk about the costume? Sure. Looks like Wonder Woman. There are aspects of various iterations we've seen; New52, animated, Earth2, classic series, it's all there. The short of it; Gal Gadot looks fantastic as Wonder Woman.

Word is if her appearances in Bv.S and JusticeLeague work out we'll see her in her own film. And frankly it's about damn time. She more than deserves her time on screen and you better believe i'll be there to see it.

The Man Of Steel returns....

The first promo image of Henry Cavill as Superman for 'BATMAN v. SUPERMAN:Dawn Of Justice' was just released and it looks, like a promo image of Henry Cavill as Superman etc. et.

I know some folks weren't hot on Cavill as Superman but i loved him in the role and I honestly can't wait to see what he does with the monster that's currently on it's way and the films that will follow.

The Image;

I'm just thinking out loud, but I suspect Supes is standing tall in Gotham City. Call me crazy, but the rain, smoke stacks and overall Gothic feel sort of lean that way to me. Another interesting thing to notice is just how different an image this promo is of the one released for Ben Affleck's Batman. This one manipulated with the city-scape and the rain while the Batman image is simply an image. Though both are atmospheric in their own way the Batman image feels more real, because it is. I'd like to see a second pic of Superman, if we could, in that style. But of course that's simply my own taste coming in.

Side-by-side.

Can't wait for this movie.

my review of GODZILLA (2014)....

.....is coming....eventually.......I swear.......and it will be gloriously fanboy-y in the most positive and celebratory of ways. :-)

MALEFICENT....

I saw MALEFICENT today.

To put it simply, and without spoilers of any kind, MALEFICENT was; charming and funny, badass and heartbreaking, uplifting and empowering. Angelina Jolie was fantastic as everyone expected her to be, but in a way that will likely take some by surprise. Yes, Maleficent is the hero, but it is so very awesome. And yes, you can take your kids, in fact I encourage you to do so. If you're a hardcore fan of Disney's 'Sleeping Beauty', and hate just the idea of hero Maleficent, remember nobody's taking the classic animated villain away from you. This is simply a different interpretation of the character and the story. Go into the movie with an open mind, and just embrace it. I loved it.

                                                  She's so awesome :-) .

So, THIS HAPPENED....

It started with this, a simple tease of the Batmobile to be featured in SUPERMAN/BATMAN posted by Zack Snyder...

He then suggested that a full reveal of the most awesome car in the history of cars would come the next day. Around the same time someone on twitter said they couldn't wait to see the costumes to be sported by Batman and Wonder Woman in the movie, mentioning the films costume designer, who then responded with a mention of 'soon'. The next day, BOOM;

I don't know what to say. Both Batman and the Batmobile look like they've stepped right off the page. Snyder has always been a wonderfully visual director, so trust him to give us a Batman that could translate literally to or from a comic book. He looks amazing. The suit builds upon the suits we've seen on film before, but gives us something we've never seen. The symbol on the chest is big and elegant. The belt looks like a genuine utility belt, while the gauntlets look like genuine gauntlets. The cowl and cape seem to be one piece. The Batmobile look practically like a spaceship. I know with Snyder mentioning THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS as an influence on the movie everyone was expecting a giant Bat-tank, but the fact that this Batmobile looks so different from Miller's version of the vehicle, and the suit only has comparable elements to Miller's Batsuit's, I think emphasizes the fact that that book is influence material not source material.

I can't wait for this movie, I've been excited for it my whole life, and now it's happening. Superman's costume will be seeing some revisions for this movie, and I look forward to seeing what those changes are. But if I'm being honest I really, truly, can't wait to see what Wonder Woman looks like. This will be our first big screen, live-action, Wonder Woman. This look at the films Batman, and knowing the style of Superman and the Kryptonians from MAN OF STEEL, just makes me more excited to see the Amazon of Amazon's for the first time.

The Flash First Look: Don't Blink

The Flash is coming to the CW :-) . This is the first promo that appeared during the season 2 finale of ARROW. And I like it a lot. It pretty sums up the character in a solid way and comes right out and states 'shared universe'. I don't think any of this footage is from the actual pilot, not at all. Instead I think this was simply a specially filmed promo just to let folks know, hey, The Flash is on his way. The costume, which I was fine with before, looks nice in motion and the superspeed effect looks decent. Can't wait to see the show. So next season; THE FLASH and season 3 of ARROW on the CW. Awesome.

**EDIT**
Full extended first look is now officially online, check it out;

How awesome was that, October can't get here soon enough. I can't even begin to analyze this thing. It's just so full of comic booky goodness.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - Official Trailer #2 (2014) [HD]

APES!!! TOGETHER!!! STRONG!!!

I am a huge fan of the Planet Of The Apes series, yes, I even find things to like about Tim Burton's film. My hopes are high for Dawn, especially after Rise. For anyone who knows the Apes movies you know there are multiple timelines at work. The pre-Beneath timeline, Planet and Beneath, and the perhaps more hopeful post-Escape timeline, Escape/Conquest/Battle. And this new run of movies feels like the original timeline, meaning darker and nastier than we wish such a future would be. And since they've already announced a third film to follow in this run, it looks like Apes are here to stay again, at least for a little while. But I'm really wondering what they might do after that third film hits.

American Godzilla's....

****1998****

****2014****

16 years between iterations, and wow is there a difference. I've already spoken my peace on 1998's Zilla, so i'll move on. 2014's Godzilla, pretty much perfect in ever way. I officially have '0' complaints about him, and I can't wait to see the new movie. Every image, every tv spot, every trailer, nearly reduces me to tears.

Godzilla, forever.

CYBORG cast, what is to come....

CYBORG has officially been cast in the SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie with relative unknown Ray Fisher in the role. Word is that it will be only for one scene with the role being extended in future movies, specifically the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. This is interesting for four reasons; 1. Cyborg is a character Henry Cavill (Superman) name-dropped for a possible future character he was really interested in meeting. 2. Star Labs, a hub of scientific advancement in the DCU, the place where Cyborg's father works, and was the scene of his transformation made a cameo in MAN OF STEEL. 3.The Revised Origin of the Justice League includes Cyborg as a founding member. And 4. It looks like, with the one scene to become a larger role later, that DC/WB are extending the origin of the Justice League beyond a single movie and telling a longer story than anyone was maybe expecting. Whether Cyborg will be Cyborg or his pre-transformation identity of Victor Stone pro-football player, I suppose we'll have to wait and see. Although word is they've already filmed some football material for the movie.

When it comes to the roster in the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie it looks like they'll be drifting more towards the NEW52 line-up. Which was; Superman/Batman/WonderWoman/GreenLantern(HalJordan)/TheFlash/Aquaman/and Cyborg. But just from my own personal preference, I'd rather have the John Stewart Green Lantern, Frankly because, yes, he's my Green Lantern but also because I tend to think he's more interesting than Hal Jordan. And instead of Aquaman, who should be ruling over Atlantis and being a badass while doing it, I think they should bring back Martian Manhunter, one of the greatest, and most under-appreciated, characters of all time. I think there should also be more than one female member of the team, since Hawkgirl is part of Earth 2 and ultimately the Justice Society, how about Zatanna? or maybe Rocket? which would be a cool way to eventually bring in Icon in his own movie.

The ultimate rumor going around is that SUPERMAN/BATMAN leads directly into JUSTICE LEAGUE, with Batman possibly being the one who brings the team together. Thats fine with me. Wonder Woman being a supporting character in S/B, also fine with me. It'll be nice to see the trinity come together before things go nuts with the League later on. I know a lot of folks online are really worried about whats going on with DC/WB but I'm quite excited. Is it what MARVEL did? No, but it shouldn't be. Do something different, be bold, embrace the crazy. And as a fandom all we have to do is drink it all in.

WIKI DIE HARD LETHAL WEAPON WTF?

The script for 'Die Hard With A Vengeance' was at one point intended to be the script for 'Lethal Weapon 4', before it was adapted to become the third Die Hard movie.......ummmm, wow, that would've taken the Lethal Weapon series in an interesting direction, especially considering where 3 left off and what 4 became.

COSMOS

Have you been watching COSMOS? If not you should be, it's a fantastic piece of television returned to help us all. Check your local listings.

The Hobbit's

'The Desolation of Smaug' is coming to DVD/Blu-Ray this week. These Hobbit movies are really frustrating, and in the smallest ways. There's just so much fat in each of them, if you removed the Gandalf/Sauron subplot, cut down the extended fight scenes, and removed some tracking bridge shots, you would have some reasonably lengthed movies. In fact you'd probably end up with a duology instead of a trilogy. I read that 'An Unexpected Journey' was originally going to end with the barrel scene and that the second movie was going to be Smaug and the massive battle. That would've worked for me. You could've done that and had the Gandalf material as its own standalone movie. Some have come close to saying the Hobbit trilogy is Peter Jackson's equivelent to the Star Wars prequels. I wouldn't go that far, but I can certainly see where that's coming from. Really hoping the payoff of part three will bring it all together somehow and make this a series worth revisiting.

.....

Have a stack of DVD's to watch and a stack of books to read, you'd think that's what i'd be doing. But instead i'm brainstorming things, that should they happen, won't happen for years to come. Always getting way, WAY, ahead of myself.

NEW.......GAMERA......ON.........THE.........WAY!!!!!

With everything going on eith Godzilla right now, it's easy to forget there's another giant reptile out there. Gamera turns 50 next year and it seems that he'll soon be celebrating a return of his own. Because it's gotten out that with his 50th Anniversary he's getting a new movie. Word is the film is well into pre-production and will bring back Gamera in a surprising way. He's already been a prehistoric monster, a mythical hero, and a bio-engineered weapon, I wonder what'll be next. I really love this news, the 90-'s Gamera trilogy is absolute perfection. And Gamera himself is just a fantastic character. Can't wait to see what comes.

The CW....THE FLASH....The Costume....

My brief thoughts on the CW FLASH suit; Now that I've seen the whole thing, in daylight, straight on, I can honestly say that i like it. There are three things you have to think about with this suit.

One, the original comic suit was created in the space-age with an aim being towards futuristic.

Two, the Barry Allen we've met on ARROW and who will star in this new series is a geek, and not just a fanboy geek, but a genius level geek. This new suit seems to have that silver-age/space-age feel to it and wears its geekiness on its sleeve. No doubt there are some high-tech explanations behind everything he's wearing.

Three of course is quite simple, this Flash is just starting out. And with someone as geeky as Barry Allen you better believe there will be upgrades, and a lot of them. It took Green Arrow a season and a half to upgrade from paint over the eyes to an actual mask on ARROW. And take a wild guess who made that mask for him, Barry Allen. When we eventually see the finished series on tv, special effects will be added and images will be finalized, making things even more interesting. And I look forward to it.

#$%^ 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D'

Tried to give 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' another shot the other night. And I just couldn't stand it. For a show about a super-secret spy agency in the increasingly dangerous MARVEL cinematic universe it is so safe and middle of the road it's disgusting. I don't know about anyone else, but when it was announced I said "terrific!"a show about badass super-spies in cool jumpsuits kicking ass and risking everything on a weekly basis, "i am in!!!". And then we got this, this thing, and it is what it is. And isn't that a real tragedy. It's something that seems to be a problem with some of the MARVEL movies as well. The first THOR film is a train-wreck, pure garbage with few exceptions. Iron Man 2 is horribly unsteady and poorly done. The Incredible Hulk falls flat but also has some minor strengths. Iron Man 3 could've been a lot more but ultimately proves itself to be a better second movie than Iron Man 2. Thor 2 was a big step in the right direction for that franchise but still holds back just enough to keep itself down. And The Avengers, well, The Avengers was a solid pilot for a TV show. Iron Man and Captain America are still out in front as the best MARVEL movies. Although the finale of Iron Man isn't exactly great or even good. But the strength's of those two movies are that they don't give a $%^& about what you think of them, they go for it and hold little back. Whereas most of MARVEL's other films, and now this show, are more concerned with playing to the audience, or trying not to rock the boat too much.
