CYBORG cast, what is to come....

CYBORG has officially been cast in the SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie with relative unknown Ray Fisher in the role. Word is that it will be only for one scene with the role being extended in future movies, specifically the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. This is interesting for four reasons; 1. Cyborg is a character Henry Cavill (Superman) name-dropped for a possible future character he was really interested in meeting. 2. Star Labs, a hub of scientific advancement in the DCU, the place where Cyborg's father works, and was the scene of his transformation made a cameo in MAN OF STEEL. 3.The Revised Origin of the Justice League includes Cyborg as a founding member. And 4. It looks like, with the one scene to become a larger role later, that DC/WB are extending the origin of the Justice League beyond a single movie and telling a longer story than anyone was maybe expecting. Whether Cyborg will be Cyborg or his pre-transformation identity of Victor Stone pro-football player, I suppose we'll have to wait and see. Although word is they've already filmed some football material for the movie.

When it comes to the roster in the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie it looks like they'll be drifting more towards the NEW52 line-up. Which was; Superman/Batman/WonderWoman/GreenLantern(HalJordan)/TheFlash/Aquaman/and Cyborg. But just from my own personal preference, I'd rather have the John Stewart Green Lantern, Frankly because, yes, he's my Green Lantern but also because I tend to think he's more interesting than Hal Jordan. And instead of Aquaman, who should be ruling over Atlantis and being a badass while doing it, I think they should bring back Martian Manhunter, one of the greatest, and most under-appreciated, characters of all time. I think there should also be more than one female member of the team, since Hawkgirl is part of Earth 2 and ultimately the Justice Society, how about Zatanna? or maybe Rocket? which would be a cool way to eventually bring in Icon in his own movie.

The ultimate rumor going around is that SUPERMAN/BATMAN leads directly into JUSTICE LEAGUE, with Batman possibly being the one who brings the team together. Thats fine with me. Wonder Woman being a supporting character in S/B, also fine with me. It'll be nice to see the trinity come together before things go nuts with the League later on. I know a lot of folks online are really worried about whats going on with DC/WB but I'm quite excited. Is it what MARVEL did? No, but it shouldn't be. Do something different, be bold, embrace the crazy. And as a fandom all we have to do is drink it all in.
